Iterating in conversation

How to reach a good result in two or three steps with targeted feedback.

Transcript

The first answer is a draft, not a verdict. Instead of starting over, tell the model precisely what to change: shorten the second paragraph, make the opening less formal, replace the generic example with one from logistics. Specific feedback gets specific improvements.

A useful trick is to ask the model to question you first: before you write, ask me up to five questions about anything you need to know. It turns a vague request into a short interview and often surfaces context you forgot to give.

Know when to stop. If three rounds of feedback have not fixed the result, the conversation is probably carrying confusing history. Start a new chat and put everything you learned into one clean, complete prompt.

Key takeaways

  1. Treat the first answer as a draft and give precise feedback.
  2. Let the model interview you when the task is unclear.
  3. After three weak rounds, start fresh with one complete prompt.
