Measuring adoption
How to know whether your team uses AI safely and to good effect.
Transcript
A policy succeeds when people use approved tools confidently, not when nobody uses AI. Adoption is the leading indicator: weekly active users of approved tools, the tasks they use them for, and how many questions reach the policy contact.
Before training, pick three to five common tasks and time them. Repeat the measurement after a month. Time saved per task, multiplied by how often the task happens, turns a feeling into a number you can take to management.
Watch for warning signs too: approved tools with very low use often mean the official option is worse than the workaround, which is exactly where shadow AI grows back.
Key takeaways
- Adoption of approved tools is the leading indicator.
- Time tasks before and after training to show the value.
- Low use of approved tools signals a better workaround somewhere.
